Support for Those Who Are Navigating Their Identity
I was raised by a United Nations of parents (Colombian, Puerto Rican, American, and Japanese-American). As a person who has navigated and continues to navigate living between different cultures and identities, my personal experiences serve to amplify and fuel my professional passion for walking alongside people as they navigate life between different worlds and figuring out who they are.
My experience in identity work extends beyond race/ethnicity and also includes LGBTQ+ affirming therapy. This includes facilitating LGBTQ+ therapy groups for middle school, high school, and college aged students, presenting training seminars and webinars on LGBTQ+ affirming practices in school and professional settings, and providing affirming and celebratory individual therapy to people of all ages as they navigate their gender and sexuality.
All of the identity work that I do is rooted in an understanding of the ways that minority stress impacts people and through an intersectional lens. I believe it is not the individual that is to be pathologized or “cured” but rather supported and celebrated as they try to navigate the world, especially in spaces that were not originally created for them or by them.
